Celebrate Arab American Heritage Month throughout April at the Arlington Public Library! Join us for a variety of fun programs that explore Arab culture and history.

Kutub: Arabic Book Club & Calligraphy
Saturday, April 4, 2026, 1 - 4 p.m., George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, 100 S. Center St.
Enjoy an author talk in Arabic with Nariman AlAtawneh, followed by a short lecture by David Heath, who will share his journey learning Arabic. The lecture will be presented in English.
Afterward, take part in a hands-on calligraphy session where you’ll practice the art of Arabic writing. This program is open to adults and seniors.
A Sip of Culture - Arab American Heritage Month

Join us for A Sip of Culture, a special celebration in honor of Arab Heritage Month! This free library program invites you to experience the rich traditions of Arab culture through the taste and story of Arabic coffee. Known for its warm spices, deep history, and role in hospitality, Arabic coffee offers a meaningful way to explore heritage, community, and tradition. This program is open to adults and seniors.
Little Explorers: Arab American Heritage Month

Stop by for a morning of play-based learning just for our littles! This program will vary week-to-week as we celebrate the world using art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills. Join us as we playfully discover the world around us! Designed for ages 1-4.
Spice Club: Arab American Heritage Month
Saturday, April 18, 2026, Noon - 1 PM, East Library & Recreation Center, 1817 New York Ave.
At Spice Club, you will learn about a different spice every month. Attend to discover a spice and receive a take-and-make kit featuring a variety of unique spices, herbs, or blends.
Each kit will include: Information about the featured spice, its history with a few facts; two simple recipe suggestions; Small packet of the featured spice to try. In recognition of Arab American Month, we will learn about vinegar. This program is open to adults and seniors.
Tea Time! Arab American Heritage Month

Take your tastebuds on a trip around the world during Tea Time! Every culture has a connection to tea or coffee. At Tea Time, we will dive into the history of different teas, coffees, and other delicious drinks while enjoying a good cuppa’ ourselves. Drinks will be free, but supplies are limited. For Arab American Heritage Month we will be exploring Moroccan Mint. This program is open to adults and seniors.
Hand Embroidery Basics: Arabic Alphabet

Explore the hobby of hand embroidery! Celebrate Arab American Heritage Month and learn the beauty of different embroidery stitches as you begin your fiber arts journey.
This class is limited to the first 12 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13+.
