Warming Centers, Overnight Shelters Open in Arlington Through Feb. 1

Warming centers and overnight shelters will continue to be open in Arlington for those in need from Tuesday, Jan. 27 through Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026.

The City of Arlington’s Homeless Emergency Cold Weather Shelter plan, which is supported by a federal emergency shelter grant, is activated on dates when temperatures reach 39 degrees or below for four or more consecutive hours overnight. Arlington is partnering with two organizations, The Salvation Army and First United Methodist Church, to provide overnight shelter options for the community throughout this week. 

Overnight Shelters

The Salvation Army, 712 W. Abram St.

Intake hours

  • Jan. 27 through Jan. 30: Check in time: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Check out time: 9 a.m. the next day.
  • Jan. 31: Check in time: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Check out time: noon the next day.

Check-in exceptions will be made for drop offs by the Arlington Police Department after hours.

Breakfast will be served

This site can accommodate up to 30 individuals.

The shelter will only remain open on dates when overnight temperatures reach 32 degrees or less for four or more consecutive hours.

  • Jan. 27-Jan. 31: Check in time: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Check out time: 9 a.m. the next day.

Check-in exceptions will be made for drop offs by the Arlington Police Department after hours.

Breakfast will be served.

This site can accommodate up to 25 individuals.

Warming Centers

All Arlington Public Library locations and recreation centers will have designated areas open to the public as warming centers during standard operating hours, excluding holidays.

The Arlington Animal Services Shelter (accepts pets of homeless individuals as capacity allows). The shelter is located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. The phone number is 817-459-5898.
