Lego Free Play
Build something tall, wide or anything you can dream of using Lego blocks! Join us Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 4 – 5:30 p.m. for an afternoon of fun, imagination, and creativity at the Ron Wright Lake Arlington Branch Library. This program is designed to be flexible on time so that families can participate at any time during the program's duration.
Cross Stitch: Basics
Learn the art of cross stitch in this beginner-friendly workshop designed to introduce you to this relaxing and creative craft. You’ll discover essential techniques including how to read patterns, prepare your fabric, make basic stitches, and finish your project neatly. Perfect for those new to cross stitch or looking to refresh their skills, no prior experience is needed. This class is Thursday, Jan. 8 from 6 – 8 p.m. in Tinker Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library
Storytime: Hibernation at River Legacy
Snuggle up for a special story time about hibernation at River Legacy Nature Center! In partnership with Arlington Public Library, this interactive program on Friday, Jan. 9 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. explores how animals survive the colder months through rest, slowing down, and clever adaptations. Families will enjoy two stories focused on animal hibernation and winter behaviors, featuring native animals found in our area. After story time, head outside for a short, family-style nature walk led by Dr. Ellen Ravkind, where participants will look for signs of animals preparing for or resting through winter. Canines & Coffee at Doggie Depot
Get ready to kickstart your Saturday morning with the ultimate combination of coffee, community, and canine fun! Downtown Arlington invites you and your furry best friend to our monthly Canines & Coffee event Saturday, Jan. 10 from 9 – 11 a.m. This free event is designed for dog lovers and their pups to socialize and enjoy the fresh air at the brand-new Downtown Arlington Doggie Depot. We're thrilled to feature pop-up coffee from Downtown Arlington local coffee shops.
Paint with Me: Pointillism
Discover the art of Pointillism in a fun and relaxed setting. Learn how to create stunning images using tiny dots of color that blend beautifully from a distance. This hand-on workshop will guide you through the technique step by step, helping you develop patience and precision. By the end, you will complete your own Pointillist masterpiece to take home. The class is on Saturday, Jan. 10 from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Tinker Room of George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.
