Nominate a Young Reader for Library Kid of the Month

The Arlington Public Library is introducing Library Kid of the Month, a new program that celebrates young readers while encouraging literacy and strengthening partnerships with local schools.

Children who are interested in becoming the Library Kid of the Month must meet the following criteria:

  • Attend a school in Arlington (public, private, charter, or homeschool)
  • Be in grades 3rd - 6th
  • Be willing to share their love of books and reading through a video application process

Applications will open on August 17, 2026 and remain open year-round. Each Library Kid will be selected at random from the pool of eligible applicants each month.

Each Library Kid will receive:

  • Recognition across the library's digital marketing channels.
  • A feature article highlighting their reading interests with a video interview filmed by the city’s Office of Communications.
  • A custom "READ" poster displayed at both their local library branch and school.
  • The opportunity to work with a librarian to create a display of their favorite books at their local Arlington Public Library branch.
