The map shows all current Local Landmarks, including a photo of the structure and a short history of the Local Landmarks. Also included on the map are special areas of the city, such as the Old Town Historic District, the South Center Street Historic District, and The Hill – Historic African American Community.

In conjunction with the launch of the map, the City has produced a video of a few of the Local Landmark properties. Be sure to check back regularly as the map and photo album will be updated with new Local Landmarks as they are approved.

Any property owner can apply for designation as a Local Landmark and receive a medallion or subject marker so that the sites are easy to locate so that residents and visitors may enjoy them. Applications are reviewed by the Landmark Preservation Commission and approved by the City Council. If you would like to apply for a Local Landmark designation, the Landmark Preservation Commission can help research the property to prepare an application.
