The construction contract for Allen Avenue Sidewalk Project (East Arbrook Boulevard to East Mayfield Road) consists of installing new sidewalk on both sides of Allen Avenue in addition to filling in sidewalk gaps along Allen Street. This includes installing ADA compliant ramps, performing bridge rail modifications, installing storm drain culvert crossings extension and streetlight upgrades.

Funding for this project was included in the voter-approved 2018 Bond Election in addition to the federal funds provided by the Texas Department of Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TASA) Program. This project aligns with the Council Priorities to Enhance Mobility

Project Updates

Construction has started on the northside of Allen Avenue towards Mayfield Road. 


A public meeting to learn more about this project was held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Hall, at the East Library and Recreation Center, located at 1817 New York Avenue, Arlington, TX 76010. There was a short presentation followed by a question and answer session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have access to my driveway?

Driveway access will be available during most of the project. If your driveway is slated for reconstruction, the contractor will provide you with written notice, so you have time to make other arrangements for vehicle parking.

Will my trash be picked up during construction?

Yes. Your neighborhood's regularly scheduled trash and recycling pickup days will continue as normal during construction.

Will my mail be delivered during construction?

Yes. Your mail and packages will be delivered as normal

How drivable will my street be during construction?

The contractor will always provide as much access to your street as possible. However, at times it may be necessary to temporarily close a portion of the street during the day. Though access may be limited, if emergencies arise, the contractor will work with you to the best of their abilities to grant you access to your driveway.

Will I still have water service during construction?

Yes. You will continue to have water service during construction. There may be at times, however, that water may be temporarily shut off for a couple of hours during the day. You will be notified of any planned interruptions by the contractor.
