The Public Works’ Stormwater Management Division would like to welcome Arlington students and teachers back for another exciting school year and encourage our local educators to participate in the StormTalker Education Program.

The StormTalker program is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of stormwater pollution and its effects on water quality, local ecosystems, and flooding. Presentation topics include stormwater pollution and prevention, watersheds and natural floodplain functions, storm drainage systems and local water quality, flood safety and awareness, and native pollinator and aquatic life habitat protection. These programs provide support for TEKS biology and social studies standards with a heavy emphasis on vocabulary and natural ecosystem concepts.  The program offers the following presentations which can be adapted for upper grade levels.

  • Keeper of the Stream – Pre-K and Kindergarten
  • The Bumblebee Queen – Pre-K and Kindergarten
  • All the Way to the Ocean – 1st and 2nd Grade
  • Journey Through the Storm Drain – 3rd and 4th Grade
  • Bugs Don’t Bother Me! – 3rd and 4th Grade
  • We All Live in a Watershed – 5th and 6th Grade
  • Be Flood Prepared! – 5th and 6th Grade
  • Arlington's Native Bees and Other Pollinators – All Grades
