Texas Author’s Book Club – “The King of Diamonds” by Rena Pederson
Step into the mystery of Dallas’ Swinging Sixties at the Texas Authors Book Club on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. at Fielder House Museum. This month’s selection, The King of Diamonds by Rena Pederson, tells the true story of a daring jewel thief who eluded police and the FBI for more than a decade while targeting Dallas’ wealthy elite. The book club meets on the third Thursday of each month and is a collaboration between Arlington Public Library and the Arlington Historical Society.
Fall Family Fish Night
Cast a line and enjoy a relaxing evening by the pond at Fall Family Fish Night on Friday, Sept. 18 from 6–8 p.m. at Cliff Nelson Recreation Center. Fishing poles will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the event is free and open to all ages.
Levitt Pavilion Fall Concerts
Enjoy a weekend of free live music at Levitt Pavilion Arlington on Sept. 18–19, beginning at 7:10 p.m. Friday features Grupo Pression and Tejano artist Jay Pérez, while Saturday brings Patrick Pombuena Community Orchestra and Austin funk-fusion group Blue Tongue. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, enjoy the music under the stars and take advantage of free parking.
West Main Arts Fest
Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the West Main Arts Fest on Saturday, Sept. 19 from noon–6 p.m. in Downtown Arlington. West Main Street will come alive with 70+ artist booths, three live music stages, interactive art experiences, live demonstrations, food trucks and craft vendors. The festival is free and open to everyone, with families and pets welcome.
International Observe the Moon Night
Look to the skies and celebrate the Moon during International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 8:30–10:30 p.m. at the UTA Observatory. Join UTA astronomers for a free evening of telescope viewing, questions and lunar exploration. You can also bring your own telescope, camera or binoculars, or simply come ready to observe the Moon!
