Arlington Museum of Art Celebrates City’s 150th with Exhibition

The Arlington Museum of Art announces "Arlington 150: Stories of a Legacy," an exhibition looking at the history of the city from its first settlers to its most recent additions. In collaboration with over 75 organizations, businesses, and individuals from across Arlington’s community, the AMA has curated an exhibit telling stories from our greatest citizens to some of our unknown tales.
“As a born and raised Arlingtonian, this exhibition has been an absolute thrill to be part of, said Kendall Quirk, the Director of Exhbitions for the Arlington Museum of Art. "There have been so many moments of learning and discovery through this process, and I hope we translate that to visitors. Arlington is all about community, and we have been able to connect with and involve so many members of our community. I hope all visitors gain a new perspective of the city, whether they have lived here their whole lives or they are just visiting.
"Arlington 150: Stories of a Legacy" will open October 17, 2026 and close February 28, 2027. From the heights of the Six Flags coasters to the underground casinos at Top O’Hill Terrace, the exhibition will feature items from historic sites like Arlington Downs, fan-favorites Pantera, and archaeological sites like Village Creek.
“For 150 years, Arlington has been shaped by the vision, determination, and spirit of the people who have called this city home," said Arlington Mayor Jim Ross. "'Arlington 150: Stories of a Legacy' is a meaningful tribute to that journey, celebrating the milestones, the everyday moments, and the individuals whose stories have built the Arlington we know today.”
