Arlington Baptist University Breaks Ground on New Baseball Field

Arlington Baptist University celebrated a historic milestone with the groundbreaking of its new on-campus baseball field, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Patriot Athletics and the university community.
The groundbreaking represents Arlington Baptist University's first major groundbreaking project in approximately 50 years and brings the university closer to providing its baseball program with a permanent home on the ABU campus.
University President Dr. Clifton McDaniel, members of the ABU Board of Directors, university leadership, coaches, student-athletes, community leaders, construction partners, supporters, and friends of the university gathered on campus to celebrate the occasion.
The new facility will serve as the home of Arlington Baptist University Baseball and provide student-athletes with the opportunity to practice and compete on their own campus. The project also creates new opportunities for the university to welcome alumni, families, fans, prospective students, and members of the Arlington community to campus.
The facility will be home to a Patriot baseball program led by Head Coach Brad Bass, whose teams captured the 2025 and 2026 NCCAA Division II National Championships. The program's recent success, combined with the construction of the new field, represents continued momentum for ABU Athletics.
ABU Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Eric White said the project will have an impact that reaches beyond game day.
"Having our baseball team compete on our campus will be transformational for our student-athletes and for the entire ABU community," White said. "This field will create a place where our students, alumni, families, and supporters can come together. We are excited about what it means for the future of Patriot Baseball and Arlington Baptist University."
Arlington Baptist University recognized the many individuals and organizations who have supported the project, including the City of Arlington, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, members of the Arlington City Council, the ABU Board of Directors, Imperial Construction, and Symmetry Sports Construction.
Construction will continue throughout the fall and winter, with the university planning to officially open the new facility in early 2027.
Grand Opening —February 2027
Arlington Baptist University is pleased to announce that the Grand Opening of the new ABU Baseball Field will take place in February of 2027.
The celebration will mark the official opening of the Patriots' new home and provide the ABU community an opportunity to celebrate the people whose generosity, leadership, and hard work helped turn the vision for an on-campus baseball facility into reality.
Additional information regarding the February 6 grand opening, including event times and activities, will be announced at a later date.
"This is a significant moment in the history of Arlington Baptist University," McDaniel said. "We are thankful for God's continued blessings on this university and excited about what lies ahead."
