The Public Works Department’s Stormwater Division has completed Marquis Circle Drainage Improvements Project. This $2.2 million drainage project reduces the flood risk for homes in the area. The project area was bordered by West Arkansas Lane to the north, Perkins Road to the east, Waterview Drive to the south and Lake Arlington to the west in West Arlington.

Key project improvements included:
- Storm drain installation
- Sanitary sewer installation and maintenance
- Limited water line relocations
- Limited asphalt paving
- Concrete driveway paving
The project included upsizing existing storm drainage infrastructure, replacing and rehabilitating sanitary sewer facilities in the area, and replacing a failing storm drain outfall to Lake Arlington. The improvements will capture more stormwater runoff within the City’s right-of-way and will decrease flooding risk for homes in the area
The work for this project began in March 2026 and was completed in September 2026
This project supported the Arlington City Council’s priority to Strengthen Our Communities and was part of the City’s Capital Improvements Program for Stormwater for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. This project is part of the City’s efforts to mitigate neighborhood flooding and improve drainage infrastructure. The funding was provided through the Stormwater Utility Fund, Street Maintenance Fund, and water and sanitary sewer bonds.
Since 2009, Arlington has invested more than $200 million on the Stormwater Capital Improvements Program, which includes flood mitigation, protection of City infrastructure from erosion, voluntary flood buyouts, the purchase of technology assets, and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure.
