Finding availability for an apartment where you want to live, close to the amenities your family needs, with the onsite services you want, and within your budget can be challenging.  A new online tool is making it easier for Arlington residents to find available rental housing that fits their needs and budget.

The City of Arlington has partnered with City Wise Software to launch a rental housing locator at apartments.arlingtontx.gov, giving residents a centralized way to search for available rental housing throughout Arlington.

“It allows people searching for housing to see what is actually available without having to call dozens of properties to ask about availability,” said Mindy Cochran, executive director of Arlington Housing. “They can contact the property directly through the website if they have additional questions.”

Residents can search for and filter rental properties based on a variety of needs, including:

  • Apartments that accept Housing Choice Vouchers or other rental assistance
  • Income-restricted and affordable housing
  • Accessibility
  • Number of bedrooms
  • Pet-friendly properties
  • Walkability scores and proximity to services
  • Other property features and amenities

“This tool puts information at people's fingertips and helps remove one of the first barriers renters face: simply knowing what housing is available,” Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said. “We are excited to bring this resource to Arlington and continue finding innovative ways to make our city a place where people can find opportunity and put down roots.”

The platform launched in July 2026 and currently features more than 65 rental units in the Arlington city limits, with the number expected to grow as more properties are added.

Families needing rent restricted rental units, or landlords that will accept rental assistance is even more challenging.

More than 3,000 Arlington households receive Housing Choice Vouchers, making access to current information about available rental units especially important.  The tool allows housing searchers to filter specifically for landlords that accept vouchers.

The Housing Choice Voucher program is a rental assistance program that helps eligible low-income households pay part of their rent at participating rental properties. The program is administered locally by the Arlington’s housing authority, Arlington Housing Works and is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  At this time, no applications are being accepted, but as funding allows, the waiting list will be opened and the opening will be shared on the City and Housing websites.
