Arlington residents and volunteers came together on Sept. 12, 2026, for a community cleanup event in the Rushmoor neighborhood, focused on keeping that community clean, safe and beautiful.
The effort made a significant impact, with 3.86 tons of debris removed from the Southwest Arlington neighborhood. Volunteers also assisted four property owners by removing low-hanging tree limbs and other debris.
For residents who received assistance, the event was about more than just cleanup. Mr. Reyes, one of the residents who received help trimming branches, shared his appreciation, saying the volunteers “did a good job and were really friendly.”
Approximately 36 people participated in the event, including 16 volunteers and 20 residents. In addition to the cleanup activities, Arlington Parks distributed 66 trees to help residents add greenery to their homes and neighborhoods.
The Environmental team also distributed 28 bags filled with helpful items and information about protecting Arlington’s waterways, giving residents resources they can use long after the cleanup ended.
Together, residents, volunteers and City teams demonstrated how community involvement can make a tangible difference; one neighborhood, one property and one tree at a time.
