The Arlington Police Department is investigating an early morning auto-pedestrian collision that resulted in the death of an adult male.
On Monday, October 19, 2026, at 6:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Matlock Road, near Matlock Centre Circle, in response to reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a pickup truck.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the man lying unresponsive in the roadway. He died at the scene. The man did not have a photo ID on him.
Investigators determined the man was attempting to cross Matlock Road when he was struck by a Nissan Frontier traveling northbound. The man was not using a crosswalk or other designated crossing at the time. The driver of the Frontier immediately stopped, remained on scene, and was cooperative with the investigation. He is not facing any criminal charges at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s name once he is positively identified and next of kin have been notified.
The Arlington Police Department wants to remind pedestrians that they should always use designated crosswalks or traffic lights when attempting to cross roadways, especially when it’s dark and visibility is reduced.
