As a top city for entrepreneurs, Arlington provides a supportive environment where businesses can launch, grow and thrive. From first-time startups to expanding small businesses, the city has a network of programs, partnerships and resources simplify the process of doing business and open doors to new opportunities.

The City’s Small Business Assistance page features a host of business resources, including first steps on how to start a business, information on financing, doing business with the City and more. The Small Business Resource Guide outlines what a new business owner needs to know, from permitting to tax identification numbers and everything in-between.

The City highlights small businesses throughout the year, sponsored by local small business Canales Furniture, through feature articles published on the City’s website and social media pages. The Planning and Development Services Department also coordinates a table in the One Start Development Center where featured businesses can distribute business cards, flyers and swag throughout the week (usually the last week of each month). The Arlington Economic Development Corporation offers numerous programs geared toward small businesses, including industry-specific small business cohorts, 0% interest loans through LiftFund, and a Strategic Solutions Fund to help Arlington-based manufacturing companies scale and grow.

Entrepreneurs can find office amenities and community in one of Arlington’s coworking spaces: Union Worx, NuvoDesk and Spark Coworking.

Community organizations and networking groups like the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Arlington Black Chamber and the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber can provide support and important connections to help businesses succeed.
