Arlington Urban Ministries, Celebrating 25 Years, Opens New Location

Arlington Urban Ministries, celebrating 25th years of serving the Arlington community, recently moved into its new location at 915 W. Mitchell Street.
The nonprofit organization, which has partnered with the City of Arlington for years to serve residents in need, provides support, education, resources and tools to help families become self‑sufficient. This includes financial assistance with utilities, rent and food.
On May 14, Arlington Urban Ministries and City of Arlington representatives celebrated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new center. The City awarded the nonprofit with $83,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding to support the purchase of new facility.
Over the past 25 years, AUM has focused on preventing homelessness and utility disconnection for low‑income families and children in Arlington. They also connect clients with additional community resources throughout Arlington and Tarrant County.
During its time:
- Over $6 million dollars has been spent helping with utilities, rent and more.
- Over 40,000 clients were able to keep their lights on and avoided eviction
Arlington Urban Ministries’ support system continues even after clients finish their required enrichment classes. The nonprofit collects weekly feedback from participants to improve programs, and 66% of clients report they are very likely to return for additional classes.
