Community members and volunteers came together on Arlington on May 16, 2026, for a neighborhood cleanup and assistance event hosted by the Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) at 100 Robin Lane.

Even with North Texas temperatures rising into the low 90s by the afternoon, around 18 volunteers spent the day outside working side by side to help restore and beautify the neighborhood through cleanup and yard improvement efforts.

Volunteers, including members of UNIDOS (Arlington Hispanic Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association), assisted five properties with tree trimming, mowing, and general cleanup. The City's garbage and recycling collection contractor, Republic Services, supported the effort and removed 2.91 tons of debris and discarded materials from the area.

Several City departments and community partners also joined the effort, including the Arlington Public Library, Environmental Services, the Arlington Police Department, and Community Advocating for Prosperity and Opportunity (C.A.P.O.). Environmental Services also provided 25 gift bags to residents during the event.

David Jackson, known locally as “The Retired Librarian” with CAPO, spent the day sharing 101 books with families and community members, adding a meaningful touch by encouraging literacy and connection alongside the cleanup work.

Residents were quick to express their gratitude for the support provided throughout the day.

“We truly appreciate the help,” said resident Jenni Humphreys, who received assistance during the event.

Another resident stopped by during the cleanup to personally thank volunteers and staff, sharing appreciation for NET’s continued efforts and noting how meaningful it was to see the neighborhood being restored and cared for again.

Overall, the event underscored the power of volunteerism, strong partnerships, and community pride in strengthening Arlington neighborhoods.
