After a shoulder injury caused her to leave her job, former Arlington Memorial Hospital labor and delivery nurse, Jennifer Reeves, did a lot of soul searching to decide where life would take her next.

“I didn’t know what to do,” Reeves remembered. “A lot of my identity was wrapped around nursing, and I was grieving the loss of that career.”

But after some reflection and time to heal, the nurse turned boutique owner, came up with the idea for Hey Honey Marketplace, a boutique on Abram Street just outside of Downtown Arlington, that aims to not just be a store but a community gathering place for women.

The dream became a reality last spring, when doors opened at Hey Honey Marketplace at 1500 W. Abram St. They sell women’s clothes, home goods and small Texas-oriented gifts.

“It’s been a beautiful story, my cup is so full, and I feel like I just take care of women in a new and different way,” Reeves said. “To some it might seem insignificant to own a store, but to us we aim to be a place where women can come and feel loved, seen, included and beautiful. We discovered so many women open their closets and don’t know how to dress anymore, they become so lost in being a mom. We want them to come here and rediscover who they are.”

That message has driven Reeves and her team to not only be a store, but to host events and welcome other small businesses into their space.

“We are super community focused and love opening our doors to other artisans and women in business on the weekends,” Reeves emphasized. “We also can’t wait for the warmer weather to hold events in the lot outside; we want to share what we have.”

In the future, Reeves hopes to set up a relaxing outdoor space for women to come relax on their lunch breaks and refuel.

“Come take a break from your office and enjoy our deck. We don’t serve food or drinks, but we want the ladies around here to bring their drinks and lunch and take a break from their office,” Reeves explained. “They don’t even have to shop here, we just want women to feel at peace and loved on.”

Hey Honey Marketplace is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Learn more about Hey Honey Marketplace at their website or by visiting their Facebook or their Instagram.
