The Arlington Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the March 2026 shooting death of Karri Viswanath.

Following a thorough investigation, Homicide Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of 28-year-old Xavier Jones on one count of Murder. On April 23, 2026, members of the U.S. Marshals Florida / Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force located Mr. Jones in the Panama City, FL area and took him into custody without incident.

On March 29, 2026, Mr. Viswanath was shot multiple times outside of an event venue in the 1200 block of California Lane. A friend transported him to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Multiple witnesses told officers that Mr. Jones and Mr. Viswanath got into a physical fight inside the venue, prompting private security to start clearing out the space. A short time later, multiple shots were fired outside the business. Witnesses reported seeing Mr. Jones getting into a vehicle following the shooting and driving away from the scene.

An additional witness later came forward and told detectives they saw Mr. Jones holding a gun just before the shooting. The witness also made them aware of video that surfaced online showing Mr. Jones going to his vehicle, retrieving an object, and doing a racking motion consistent with a firearm, then walking towards the area where the shooting occurred moments before shots rang out.

Mr. Jones is currently being held in the Bay County, Florida Jail where he will await extradition back to Tarrant County. .

The Arlington Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that resulted in the death of a 32-year-old man.

On Sunday, March 29, 2026, at approximately 4:29 a.m., officers responded to an event venue in the 1200 block of California Lane to investigate a reported shooting.

When they arrived, they located multiple shell casings in front of the business. Witnesses told them a physical fight broke out at the location, during which someone fired multiple shots.

A short time later, officers were notified by staff at Medical City Arlington that a 32-year-old man had just arrived at their emergency room with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers determined the man had come from the shooting scene and was transported to the hospital by friends. He was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Detectives are currently conducting follow-up investigation and working to identify the shooter. At this time, no arrests have been made.
