The Arlington Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 68-year-old woman.

On Friday, March 20, 2026, at approximately 4:40pm, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Carriage House Circle where a family member found the 68-year-old woman lying unresponsive on her apartment patio. A blanket was covering her at the time. Paramedics determined she had been shot. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives learned the woman and her grandson, 21-year-old Rontrell Jackson, had recently gotten into a heated argument which led to the loss of Mr. Jackson’s allowance money. When detectives questioned Mr. Jackson, he admitted to shooting the victim early that morning inside the apartment, then dragging her body out to the patio.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Jackson on one count of Murder. He was taken into custody and booked into the Arlington City Jail.

A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered inside the apartment.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased.
