The City of Arlington Code Compliance Department recently received statewide recognition from the Code Enforcement Association of Texas (CEAT) for its innovative Community Tool Program, which empowers residents and local organizations to improve their neighborhoods. The recognition was presented at CEAT’s 41st Annual Education and Business Conference, held in El Paso from February 9-12, 2026.

The award recognized programs that demonstrate innovation, community impact, and effective engagement with residents. The Community Tool Sharing Program is one of the nation’s first to offer free door-step delivery, pickup and use of tools for property cleanup and maintenance.

The program was established in January 2021 with the support of Lowe’s Home Improvement and provides tools/equipment to residents for minor home improvements and ongoing property maintenance.

Recent technological upgrades, including a new online reservation system, have made borrowing tools faster and easier than ever. These improvements were a major factor in Code Compliance receiving the CEAT award, ensuring residents can efficiently access the equipment they need while minimizing administrative delays.

The program strengthens community engagement and fosters neighborhood pride and collaboration.  Recognition from CEAT highlights the City of Arlington’s commitment to innovative solutions that support both Code Compliance and resident-led improvement efforts.
