The Arlington Public Library is proud to announce that Dawn Reyes has been named a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. The Texas Library Association Distinguished Service Award is presented to a librarian who has demonstrated substantial leadership in the profession and provided outstanding service in one or more areas of librarianship.
Dawn Reyes has served as a children’s librarian on the Youth Services team for nearly 30 years. “Dawn exemplifies everything it means to be a librarian and has dedicated her career to serving the Arlington community. We are proud of all she has accomplished at the Arlington Public Library and are thrilled that TLA has recognized her with this outstanding honor,” said Library Services Manager Katie Talhelm.
Throughout her career, Dawn has become a crowd favorite for her creative storytimes. She has encouraged countless young readers and families to participate in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program and has built strong partnerships with the school district, River Legacy, Parks, and many other city departments. The Arlington Public Library is grateful for Dawn’s many talents, leadership, and lasting impact on the community.
