The Sheraton Arlington Hotel at 1500 Convention Center Dr. will be demolished via controlled implosion at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 6 by Loews Hotels & Co. This “ground-shaking” event marks the official start of construction on the new Americana by Loews Hotels. Public access to the site will be restricted for safety.
The scheduled road closures for the Sheraton implosion are East Copeland Road, AT&T Way and Convention Center Drive from 6:00-10:00 a.m. to support the implosion operations. A rolling stop will be implemented along Ballpark Way from 8:20-8:40 a.m. to accommodate traffic management during the critical execution period.
Americana by Loews Hotels is a 507-room property with more than 83,000 sq. ft. of total indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. The new hotel pays tribute to the iconic Americana Hotel in Bal Harbour, Florida, a Loews landmark that opened in 1956. The term “Americana” embodies the spirit of American hospitality, a hallmark of Loews Hotels for decades. It joins two other Loews properties in Arlington’s Entertainment District, positioning it as a premier destination for large-scale gatherings.
