Atlas of Champions: Historic Maps of the 2026 World Cup Nations

Travel the world through history and soccer at Atlas of Champions: Historic Maps of the 2026 World Cup Nations, on display now through June 30, Tuesdays–Saturdays from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. at UTA Library Special Collections. This unique exhibit celebrates the 2026 FIFA World Cup with more than 60 historic maps representing participating nations, spanning six centuries and nine different languages.

Visitors can also explore photographs and artifacts from the 1994 World Cup matches in Dallas, offering a fascinating blend of sports history, global culture, and cartography. Free and open to the public, the exhibit also features limited giveaway items available while supplies last.

Texas Authors Book Club

Everything is bigger in Texas, including this month’s book selection. The Texas Authors Book Club meets on Thursday, June 18 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. at the Fielder Museum, where readers will discuss Giant by Edna Ferber, the sweeping novel that inspired the classic film starring James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rock Hudson.

Presented in partnership with the Arlington Historical Society, the club brings readers together to explore influential Texas literature through engaging discussions of both classic and contemporary works.

HIIT with Kelly Burke from KRB Fitness

Break a sweat and kick your weekend into high gear at HIIT with Kelly Burke from KRB Fitness on Saturday, June 20 from 9–10 a.m. at The Lawn at Arlington Highlands. This free, high-energy workout session combines cardio and strength exercises designed to get participants moving in a fun outdoor setting. As part of the Summer Workout Series, it’s a great opportunity to get active, connect with the community, and start the day with an energy boost. You must RSVP to participate.

5th Annual Arlington Juneteenth Celebration

The 5th Annual Arlington Juneteenth Celebration will take place on Saturday, June 20 beginning at 5 p.m. at Levitt Pavilion Arlington. This free community celebration brings together live music, culture, food trucks, and local vendors for an evening honoring Juneteenth in the heart of downtown. Guests can enjoy performances starting at 6 p.m. with the National Anthem and Black National Anthem by the Levitt Youth Spotlight, followed by Branoofunck at 7 p.m. and headliner 4Ya Soul Band at 8:30 p.m., delivering high-energy hip-hop, R&B, and soul.

Alongside the music, attendees can explore a wide variety of food trucks and vendors offering everything from BBQ and lemonade to handmade goods and local art, creating a full festival atmosphere for all ages.

Make it Like it’s 1776

Step back in time at Make It Like It’s 1776 on Tuesday, June 23 from 1–2 p.m. at the Southwest Branch Library. This hands-on workshop invites participants to explore colonial-era life through creative crafts inspired by how everyday items were made in the 1700s. Registration is required for this interactive blend of history, learning, and creativity.
