The City of Arlington is stepping into the spotlight with the official launch of the Arlington, TX Film Commission, now officially recognized as a member of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), the premier, global nonprofit representing professional film commissions across six continents.
The Arlington, TX Film Commission proudly serves as the city’s official resource for film, television, digital media and commercial productions. The Commission is a partnership between the City of Arlington, the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Arlington Economic Development Corporation. Together, these organizations ensure productions receive comprehensive support, from permitting and location scouting to logistics, hospitality and business resources.
“With our iconic destinations, diverse locations and unmatched accessibility, Arlington is uniquely positioned to welcome filmmakers,” said Arlington City Manager Trey Yelverton. “The Arlington, TX Film Commission elevates the city’s creative profile while delivering valuable support to productions.”
Rooted in Arlington’s long‑standing support for creative industries, the Commission builds on the city’s designation as a Film Friendly Texas Community, certified by the Texas Film Commission in 2016. This designation reflects Arlington’s proactive approach to streamlining permits, offering location assistance and fostering collaboration between filmmakers and local businesses.
The Arlington, TX Film Commission processes all commercial filming applications for city‑owned and city‑operated spaces. Applications are submitted through FilmApp, a free, internationally used online permitting tool. Filming decisions for private venues are made solely by the property owner or operator. The Film Commission can connect productions to local facilities but does not approve or deny private‑property filming.
