Michael Jacobson is living his American Dream as the President and CEO of the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce.
Jacobson was appointed to this role in February 2016. The Arlington Chamber of Commerce represents the interest of more than 1200 businesses in the greater Arlington area, championing economic and community prosperity.
“The passion of our members, the passion of the business community in Arlington was always there so it was just a matter of kindling that passion,” Jacobson said. “The growth of our chamber to me relates directly back to who we are. We’re a membership organization. It’s our members that make that possible.”
Prior to this position, Jacobson was director of Intel’s Corporate Responsibility Office. In this role, he was responsible for leading Intel’s corporate responsibility strategy with stakeholders across the company. Jacobson also worked in Intel’s Corporate Real Estate and Site Development Group as a site selection manager.
He came to Intel from the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce where he was a director of business development. Jacobson joined the Fort Worth Chamber after serving eight years in Washington D.C. where he held positions as assistant to the deputy secretary for management planning and operations for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, special assistant to the Commissioner for the Social Security Administration and special assistant to the Administrator of the Urban Mass Transportation Administration.
“The American Dream to me, is not just having a belief that a brighter future is possible,” he said. It’s understanding that there’s no ceilings in front of me or above me. I have a community that believes in me and supports me is going to help me achieve whatever I hope to achieve that bright future is attainable and that’s possible because I live in the American Dream City.”
