Keep Animals Safe: Avoid Trapping During Extreme Heat

Struggling with the summer heat? Animals are feeling it too. As we come to the hottest part of the year, we want to remind citizens that the city of Arlington does not recommend trapping animals of any kind during extreme heat events. Setting traps in extreme weather conditions violates city ordinance Article 10 “Miscellaneous” Section 10.2 B and Section 10.07 and can result in a misdemeanor charge of up to $2,000. 

If you must trap an animal in extreme heat or inclement weather, contact Arlington Animal Services at (817) 459-5898, and inform us of your situation. If you see an unattended trap with an animal that you believe to be in distress, please contact us immediately. Heat exhaustion sets in very quickly and the stress can endanger animals.
