First Thursdays

Downtown Arlington is bringing the energy for First Thursdays on Thursday, July 2 from 5–8 p.m. throughout Downtown Arlington. This month’s event turns downtown into a summer celebration filled with live entertainment, family activities, and experiences at local businesses, making it the perfect excuse to gather friends and explore the district.

Featured attractions include a free dance party and open house at Miss Persis Studio of Dance with sessions for all ages, a giant Foam Party Bus taking over City Center Plaza with bubbles and summer fun, and surprise pop-up performances from the UTA Drumline throughout downtown. From dancing and music to foam-filled fun, there will be plenty happening around every corner.

Independence Day Parade

Red, white, and blue take over the streets as the Arlington Independence Day Parade returns on Saturday, July 4 at 9 a.m. in Downtown Arlington. Recognized as the largest Independence Day parade in Texas, this longtime community tradition brings thousands together for a celebration packed with patriotic spirit and family-friendly fun.

Light Up Arlington

The sky over Arlington is getting ready for a show unlike any before. Light Up Arlington 2026 returns on Sunday, July 5 with a spectacular celebration honoring both Arlington’s 150th anniversary and America’s 250th birthday. Set in the Entertainment District, this special event will combine cutting-edge drone technology, music, and fireworks for an unforgettable visual experience.

The show begins at 9:30 p.m. in the Entertainment District and will feature a coordinated visual experience unlike any before. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs, and free parking will be available in Texas Rangers Lots F, G, M, and N beginning at 7 p.m.

Lake Arlington Garden Activity Day

Get your hands dirty and help grow something beautiful at Lake Arlington Garden Activity Day on Tuesday, July 7 from 8–10 a.m. at the Lake Arlington Native Plant & Pollinator Garden. Volunteers can spend the morning supporting local conservation efforts while helping restore native prairie grasses and wildflowers near Lake Arlington.

Rubber Duck Pageant

Things are getting quacky at the Rubber Duck Pageant on Wednesday, July 8 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Ron Wright Lake Arlington Library. Teens ages 13–17 can decorate their own rubber duck using provided art supplies and compete to create the most creative design. From favorite fandoms to completely original ideas, participants can let their imaginations take flight.
