The Arlington Police Department is investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a 79-year-old woman.
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at approximately 11:03 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of New York Avenue in response to a single-vehicle wreck. A 2019 Cadillac CT5 went off the roadway and collided with a tree in the median.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 66-year-old woman, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 79-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced deceased from her injuries.
The driver of the Cadillac told officers she was traveling northbound along New York Ave when another driver unexpectedly entered her lane of traffic, causing her to take evasive action that resulted in her going off the roadway.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased.
