Applications are now open for the Fall 2026 session of Arlington Water Utilities University, a residents academy hosted by the City of Arlington’s award-winning water department, Arlington Water Utilities. Classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at various locations in Arlington. Class dates are tentatively set for Sept. 2, Sept. 23, Oct. 7, Oct. 21 and Nov. 4. Participants will also be recognized with a graduation certificate and reception on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Some of the activities planned include:

• Guided tours of Arlington Water Utilities facilities like the Pierce Burch Water Treatment Plant and John F. Kubala Water Treatment Plant.
• Opportunities to get to know water department leadership and frontline staff members.
• Interactive activities to learn more about the challenges and rewards of working in the water/wastewater industry.

Nearly 70 residents have participated in Arlington Water Utilities University since it started in March 2025. Participants complete surveys after classes conclude, with many saying they have a new understanding of Arlington's water story. 

"This was such an informative and fun experience! It is crazy to think about all that goes into the simple act of turning on a faucet and having clean water come out," an Arlington Water Utilities University graduate said. "It makes me feel thankful to live in a city that cares so much about its citizens and the quality of our water.
