Arlington Parks, Recreation & Culture is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 Mayor's Youth Commission, providing local students with a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, serve their community and help shape the future of Arlington.

Students entering grades 7-12 for the 2026-27 school year are encouraged to apply. Applicants must either reside within the City of Arlington or attend a school in Arlington ISD.

Established in 2006, the Mayor's Youth Commission serves as an advisory group to the Mayor and City staff on issues affecting Arlington's youth. Commission members work together throughout the school year on volunteer service projects, leadership development opportunities and initiatives designed to strengthen youth engagement while making a positive impact in the community. The program's mission is to build stronger relationships between youth and community leaders while empowering students to become ambassadors for Arlington.

The Mayor's Youth Commission meets on the first Thursday of each month from September through May, with members collaborating on projects that promote civic engagement, community service and leadership. Throughout the year, participants gain valuable experience working alongside City leaders and fellow students while developing skills that will benefit them in school, college and future careers.

Students interested in serving on the 2026-27 Mayor's Youth Commission can complete an online application by visiting the Mayor's Advisory Groups webpage.
