Garbage and Recycling

Republic Services, the City of Arlington’s contracted garbage and recycling collector, has announced it will not run commercial collection routes on Saturday, Jan. 24.

The City will stay in close communication with Republic Services about any potential changes to residential and commercial collection services on Monday, Jan. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Arlington Public Library

All seven of the City’s public library locations are scheduled to be open during normal hours on Saturday, Jan. 24.

All Library locations also serve as warming centers during normal business hours.

Arlington Library Locations

On Sunday, Jan. 25, the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library is scheduled to open its lobby and public restrooms at noon, which is two hours earlier than normal business hours. This is to provide a warm space for residents in need. The East Library and Recreation Center will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, but all other branches are closed as usual.

Warming Centers and Overnight Shelters

Need a place to warm up after the libraries and recreation centers close for the day? Three overnight shelters will be open through the winter storm thanks to partnerships with The Salvation Army, First United Methodist Church and Nations Church.The City of Arlington can provide residents in need with free transportation between one of the warming center locations to one of overnight shelters.

Resources for Homeless Guests with Pets:

The Arlington Animal Services Shelter (accepts pets of homeless individuals as capacity allows). The shelter is located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. The phone number is 817-459-5898.


Arlington Recreation Centers

All recreation centers are scheduled to be open during normal hours on Saturday and Sunday (Dottie Lynn Recreation Center is closed on Sundays) These locations also serve as warming centers during normal business hours.

Arlington Golf Courses & Restaurants

The City of Arlington’s four public golf courses – Tierra Verde Golf Club, Texas Rangers Golf Club, Lake Arlington Golf Course and Meadowbrook Golf Course – will remain closed at least through Monday, Jan. 27. The courses may reopen on Tuesday depending on weather conditions.

The Home Plate Restaurant at Texas Rangers Golf Club and the Ventana Grille at Tierra Verde Golf Club will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

Arlington Tennis Center

The Arlington Tennis Center will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

Animal Services

Arlington Animal Services is scheduled to operate during normal hours on Saturday. The shelter is closed to the public on Sundays and Mondays.

Public Transportation

The City's public transportation services, Handitran and Arlington On-Demand, will not operate on Saturday, Jan. 24 (neither operate on Sundays). Handitran and Arlington On-Demand service for Monday, Jan. 26 will be evaluated based on road conditions.
