City Facility and Service Updates for Monday, Jan. 26, 2026

As dangerously low temperatures and icy road conditions persist, City of Arlington police, fire, public works, water utilities and other department employees will continue reporting to work on Monday, Jan. 26 to keep essential services running and roadways as safe as possible for our community.

All Arlington Public Library locations and recreation centers will be open during normal hours on Monday to serve as warming centers for residents in need. Many other public facilities will be closed, including City Hall, City Tower, the Municipal Court, golf courses, the tennis center, and Water Utilities South Service Center, on Monday.

Other winter weather updates:

  • All trash and recycling services are postponed for Monday. Updates on rescheduling and Tuesday’s trash and recycling service will be communicated as quickly as possible.
  • The Arlington Landfill will be closed on Monday.
  • Arlington’s public transportation services, Handitran and Arlington On-Demand, will not operate on Monday.
  • Four reported road closures as of 2:45 p.m.: Northeast Green Oaks Boulevard from Ascension Boulevard to Winding Hollow Lane, North Davis Drive at the top of the hill south of Northwest Green Oaks Boulevard, Brown Boulevard from North Collins Street to Canyon Ridge Court, the eastbound lanes of West Lamar Boulevard right at the hill at Olivia Lane. 
  • Municipal Court: All court dockets scheduled for Monday and Tuesday have been cancelled and will be reset.

Overnight shelters and warming centers will continue to operate in Arlington:

  • The Salvation Army, 712 W. Abram St., will accept guests for overnight stays Sunday and Monday. Check in time is between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. with check out time at 9 a.m. the next day.
  • First United Methodist Church, 407 N. Mesquite St., will accept guests for overnight stays Sunday and Monday. Check in time is between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and check out time is 9 a.m. the next day.
  • Nations Church Arlington, 1013 W. Park Row Drive, will remain open continuously as a warming center and an overnight shelter through 8 a.m. Monday.
