Have you ever driven on Davis Drive and Lynda Lane and seen that giant concrete well? The property, known as the Lam House, is now officially an Arlington Landmark.

The Lam House, which was once part of the O.S. Gray Nursery, received a local landmark designation from the Arlington City Council in November 2025. The ranch-style home was built between the late 1940s and 1967 by Cranford and Novella Kendall Lam, a direct descendant of some of Arlington’s founding families, the Sheltons, who are buried in the Arlington Cemetery.

The three properties, 1801 S. Davis Drive, 1108 and 1110 Lynda Lane, contain a windmill and a concrete water tank, which was the home’s only source of water until the 1990s. The well was drilled to a depth of 180 feet, ensuring it didn’t run dry in the summer.
