Auto-Bicyclist Fatality - Report #2026-00490383

The Arlington Police Department was notified that a 67-year-old man who was critically injured in a recent crash has died.
On February 18, 2026, at approximately 2:34 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Treecrest Drive & the I-20 frontage road to investigate a collision involving an Arlington ISD school bus and a bicyclist.
The bicyclist, who has been publicly identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 67-year-old William Roberts, was thrown from his bike and was lying in the roadway. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the school bus immediately stopped, called 911, remained on scene, and provided aid to Mr. Roberts following the collision. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed.
Four students were on board the bus at the time. They were not injured.
Investigators determined the collision occurred as the school bus was attempting to make a right turn from Treecrest Drive onto the I-20 frontage road and Mr. Roberts approached the intersection cycling eastbound along the I-20 frontage road . Mr. Roberts was not wearing a helmet at the time.
The crash remains under investigation.
