The City of Arlington’s Department of Public Works’ Floodplain Program for Public Information Committee is looking for new community representatives.
The Floodplain Program for Public Information Committee (FPPIC) is tasked with evaluating current flood related outreach initiatives and identifying projects designed to improve floodplain management awareness, flood insurance coverage, and overall preparedness and safety throughout the City of Arlington. The FPPIC needs local insurance agents, real estate agents, business leaders and other community volunteers that are interested in helping communicate the importance of flood safety and preparedness throughout our community.
Committee volunteers work closely with the City’s Stormwater Management staff to develop, implement and evaluate the 2026-2031 Program for Public Information Plan (PPI). The PPI plan describes, and outlines flood related outreach activities conducted by city staff each year. The committee meets at least twice a year to review implementation of PPI projects, create new outreach strategies and develop an annual evaluation report.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Stormwater Education Specialist at Stormwatereducation@arlingtontx.gov or visit www.arlingtontx.gov/fppic for more information.
