Beyond the Uniform: Helping Veterans, First Responders Heal from PTS

Arlington residents are invited to attend Beyond the Uniform, a special evening dedicated to mental health awareness, resilience, and honoring those who serve.
The free event highlights the incredible journey of Taylor Grieger, a U.S. Navy veteran rescue swimmer and founder of Skeleton Crew Adventures, a nonprofit using ocean adventure therapy to help service members and first responders heal from Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS).
Beyond the Uniform, hosted by The Cordish Companies, is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at the National Medal of Honor Museum, 1861 AT&T Way, in Arlington’s Entertainment District.
Program Schedule
- 5:45 p.m. | Doors Open
- 6:00 p.m. | Documentary Screening: "Hell or High Seas" Witness the gripping documentary detailing Grieger’s treacherous sailing expedition around Cape Horn to spark life-saving conversations around veteran suicide.
- 7:45 p.m. | Panel Discussion An open dialog on service, transition, and mental health featuring Grieger, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, and Navy SEAL Jonathan Cleck.
- 8:30 p.m. | Post-Event Reception The Cordish Companies will host a concluding reception at nearby One Rangers Way, featuring Cape Horn Tequila, a mission-driven spirits brand Grieger created to fund sailing therapy for veterans.

While admission is free, seating is limited. Guests must RSVP online by Tuesday, Sept. 15 to secure entry.

About Skeleton Crew Adventures Established in 2016, Skeleton Crew Adventures conducts research-backed sailing therapy and PTS seminars to aid recovery for active military, veterans, and first responders.
