North Texas is proud to host nine World Cup matches at Dallas Stadium in Arlington this summer. Match days will bring increased travel across the region as we welcome visitors from around the world.

With a little planning, we can keep daily travel running smoothly for residents and visitors alike.

What to Expect on Match Days

World Cup matches in Arlington will create concentrated travel before and after kick off, especially on I-30, SH 360, and the Trinity Railway Express (TRE).

Residents and commuters should expect:

  • Heavier roadway traffic before and after matches
  • Increased transit ridership
  • Longer travel times near Arlington and surrounding corridors

Planning ahead helps avoid delays and preserve reliable travel across the region. Use the table below to understand peak travel times on match days. Review the maps further down to see where World Cup–related road closures and travel impacts may affect your routes.

Plan Ahead: What You Can Do

On match days, consider making temporary travel adjustments when possible:

  • Carpool
  • Use alternate routes
  • Shift commute times outside peak event windows
  • Work from home if your schedule allows
  • Combine errands into fewer trips

Transit on Match Days

Transit systems across the region are expected to see increased ridership from World Cup visitors, particularly along the TRE. Regular transit riders are encouraged to:

  • Plan ahead
  • Allow extra time for boarding and transfers
  • Check service updates before traveling
  • Consider schedule adjustments when possible
  • Use the GoPass® for travel updates (Download for free on the App Store or Google Play)

For Employers: What You Can Do

Employers play an important role in supporting regional mobility during major events. Small workplace adjustments can significantly reduce peak congestion and help keep the region moving.

On match days, consider:

  • Offering flexible work or telework options
  • Adjusting shift start and end times
  • Sharing match-day travel information with employees

Why Advance Planning Matters

World Cup match days concentrate regional travel demand into short time windows.

By adjusting trips, carpooling, shifting schedules or teleworking, when possible, you can help:

  • Preserve reliable travel times across the region
  • Reduce strain on major corridors
  • Maintain transit capacity during peak demand
  • Support daily riders, essential travel, and emergency access

These are temporary, voluntary adjustments that make a meaningful impact during high-attendance events.
