Downtown Towers Being Lit in School Colors for 2026 Graduations
Published on May 06, 2026
Editor's Note: Due to an equipment issue, the City will be unable to light up the towers in school colors as planned for University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington Baptist University and Tarrant County College graduates. Makeup dates for those special lighting events will be announced at a later time. Thank you for your understanding!
Congratulations, Class of 2026! For the third year, the City of Arlington will light up Downtown to celebrate our community’s high school and college seniors who are graduating this semester.
Graduates and their families looking for a memorable photo op are invited to visit the public plaza on the south side of Arlington City Hall, where the 40-foot Flamme d’Illuminacion towers will be lit in school colors on a rotating schedule during the months of May and early June.
Artist Michelle O’Michael’s four towering woven steel sculptures were installed between City Hall and Levitt Pavilion Arlington in 2021. The silver towers are illuminated by programmable LED lights that can remain static, color sweep or flicker like flames. The City regularly changes the towers’ colors for holidays, such as Memorial Day, or special events.
The City will light the sculptures orange and blue to celebrate graduating Mavericks from The University of Texas at Arlington, blue and red to celebrate Arlington Baptist University's graduating patriots and blue and teal to celebrate Tarrant County College’s graduating Trailblazers. These lighting dates, originally planned for early May, will be rescheduled once repairs are made to the light towers.
The towers are also tentatively expected to be lit May 22-June 3 in the school colors of all public high schools in Arlington ISD and Mansfield ISD. City Hall is located at 101 W. Abram St. and is surrounded by free public parking.
Congratulations, seniors! Your future is bright in The American Dream City.
