Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the Arlington Public Library! Come enjoy fun, informative programs celebrating the rich cultures and stories of AAPI communities.
First Thursday: AAPI
Thursday, May 7, 2026, 5 - 8 p.m., Downtown library
Experience a vibrant celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander culture featuring live dance performances inspired by the traditions of Pacific Island communities. Talented performers will showcase dynamic styles from across the islands.
Enjoy free craft activities for all ages! Create something special to take home while learning more about the rich heritage of AAPI communities. Feeling tropical? Make gorgeous paper flowers using provided materials or enjoy a coloring sheet featuring species of plants and animals only found on the Hawaiian Islands. For all ages.
Art After Dark: Japanese Artist Yayoi Kusama

Join us for a fun revamp of Art After Dark. We'll celebrate AAPI month by learning about Japanese Artist Yayoi Kusama. Learn about her background and paintings then create a painting inspired by her works. This program is for adults 18+.
Spice Club: Japanese Cuisine

At Spice Club, explore the flavors of cuisines from around the world. This month, we’re highlighting Japanese cuisine.
Join us to learn about key ingredients and seasonings commonly used in Japanese cooking. Participants will receive a take-and-make kit featuring a featured spice or blend inspired by Japanese cuisine.
Each kit includes information about the ingredient, its cultural and culinary significance, a few fun facts, and two simple recipe ideas to try at home. Spice of the Month kits are free, but supplies are limited. Please limit one kit per household. This program is for adults ages 18+.
