The Arlington Police Department is investigating an auto-pedestrian crash that resulted in the death of a 68-year-old man.

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of S. Cooper Street and Lovers Lane after receiving reports that a 2015 Toyota Avalon hit someone who was in the roadway. When officers arrived, they found the 68-year-old man lying unresponsive on the ground. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

The driver of the Avalon immediately stopped, remained on scene, and was cooperative with the investigation. He is not currently facing any criminal charges in connection to this incident.

Accident Investigators determined the pedestrian was attempting to cross Cooper Street from west to east when he was struck by the Avalon, which was traveling northbound along Cooper Street. There is no designated crossing in the area the pedestrian attempted to cross, and he was not wearing any bright or reflective clothing at the time. The driver of the Avalon told officers he could not see the man prior to the collision.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased.

The Arlington Police Department wants to remind pedestrians that they should always use designated crosswalks or traffic signals when attempting to cross roadways, especially at night when visibility is reduced.
