Nicely paved streets make for a better ride for daily commuters. But a smooth road surface truly matters when you’re a professional racer driving nearly 200 miles per hour.

Work is underway in Entertainment District on the INDYCAR Grand Prix of Arlington’s street circuit. As the March 2026 inaugural race weekend approaches, the temporary 2.73-mile, 14-turn course is rapidly taking shape, promising a high-octane spectacle unlike any other.

The track will weave past AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field and Choctaw Stadium and will include portions of North Collins Street, East Randol Mill Road, Stadium Drive and Cowboys Way as part of the dynamic, high-speed circuit. The INDYCAR Grand Prix of Arlington, brought together through a partnership between Penske Entertainment, the Dallas Cowboys and REV Entertainment, will be held March 13-15, 2026/

Street and parking lot improvements for the event are being paid for and completed by INDYCAR as part of the agreement with the City of Arlington, which is inspecting the work. Improvements include:

  • Replacing any pavement where there are elevation changes along the track route, especially at the Randol Mill Road and AT&T Way intersection.
  • Removing some of the median curbs and relocating streetlights along Randol Mill Road and Stadium Drive out of the median to the curbside of the road.
  • Diamond grinding the concrete pavement to remove any bumps or irregularities in the pavement surface along the route.
  • Replacing brick paver crosswalks at several locations.

Designed by renowned circuit architect Tony Cotman, the layout in Arlington will be the longest street circuit on the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule. It features a 0.9-mile straightaway where cars are expected to hit speeds exceeding 180 mph, along with four key passing zones at Turns 1, 10, 12 and 14. To shape the circuit, crews are installing nearly 33,600 feet of barrier walls and fencing, with additional infrastructure updates underway to elevate the experience for fans and drivers alike.

INDYCAR driver Pato O’Ward recently visited Arlington to throw out the first pitch at a Rangers home game and to check out the future track.

“I think it’s going to be a fantastic event,” O’Ward told MyArlingtonTV. “Expect loud noises, some of the best racecar noises you’ve ever heard. Expect good vibes. Expect a good time.”
