Arlington Public Library is inviting residents to honor their loved ones by submitting photos for this year’s Día de los Muertos Ofrenda, a communal altar celebrating the lives of those who have passed.
Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is a traditional holiday that commemorates family and friends who have died. Families often create personal altars, or ofrendas, decorated with marigolds, favorite foods, and photographs of their loved ones. The library’s community ofrenda aims to bring together the stories and memories of residents in a shared display.
How to participate:
The completed ofrenda will be on display starting Oct. 20 at the East Library and Recreation Center, 1817 New York Ave.
