After a successful inaugural event in 2024, the Texas Veterans Day Parade is back in Arlington’s Entertainment District at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 with the theme “Sunset Salute.”
The event kicks off with an induction ceremony of over 30 new recruits. The parade features entries from all over the state, including ROTC units from different universities, all six Arlington high school marching bands with drill teams and cheerleaders, military vehicles, flyovers and a Veteran Services area. The festivities will conclude with a live drone show beginning at 7 p.m.
The parade route will start at Texas Rangers Prius Lot F, proceeding south down Convention Center Dr. to Ballpark Way. The route will continue south on Ballpark Way, west on Road to Six Flags to AT&T Way. The parade then heads north on AT&T Way past the Medal of Honor Museum, ending at Lot F where the parade began.
Rex Tillerson, 69th Secretary of State of the United States and former chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal. Tillerson serves on the boards of the National Medal of Honor Museum and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
The parade is partnering with Toys for Tots and ask that attendees bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate. There will be Marines stationed throughout the parade route to collect the donations.
This year’s parade features the exciting addition of a Veteran Services area, which includes representation from numerous organizations providing information about free services they offer for veterans. Groups like The Wounded Warrior Project, PTSD Foundation of America, Texas Veterans Commission and more will be stationed outside of Mark Holtz Lake near the E-Sports Stadium.
“These veterans have served in all branches of the service throughout the years, and they’ve given parts of their lives to help keep our nation safe and to make sure that we’re able to have our liberties as guaranteed by the constitution. This is a way to recognize and salute them,” said Kevin Donovan, parade coordinator.
The Texas Veterans Day Parade is an all-volunteer led initiative, with stewardship from a board of 18-20 people and 100+ volunteers on the day of the event.
