World Cup Community Event: Lake Arlington Cleanup Set for June 13

With just one year to go before the 2026 FIFA World Cup™, the City of Arlington is inviting the community to take part in two organized cleanup events to promote environmental sustainability and showcase civic pride.

The Lake Arlington Cleanup is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, June 13 and is part of a regional effort to support the sustainability goals tied to the global tournament. The initiative is a collaboration between the City of Arlington, City of Fort Worth, Trinity River Authority (TRA), The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Trinity Coalition, and the North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee.

Cleanup Locations

Volunteers can choose between two primary cleanup sites. The Arlington location is in the 4500 block of Enchanted Bay Blvd. and the Fort Worth locations include Eugene McCray Park & Wildcat Branch – 3440 Quail Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76119.

Volunteer Registration Deadline

Volunteers must register by 11:59 p.m. Friday, June 6.

Volunteers who sign up by June 6 will get a FIFA t-shirt. All materials – trash pickers, gloves, trash bags – will be provided. Snacks and water will also be provided. Participants are required to fill out a registration form that includes emergency contact information and a liability release. Volunteers will be emailed more information about parking and volunteer check in after signing up online.

2026 World Cup

The Lake Arlington cleanup event is part of Arlington’s broader commitment to creating a cleaner, greener community as it prepares to help host the world in 2026. The North Texas Region is scheduled to host nine matches from June 14 to July 14, 2026, including a semi-final.
