Bryant “Griff” Griffith is living his American Dream as owner of JAWS Junk & Waste Solutions, a veteran owned and operated business in Arlington.
JAWS Junk & Waste Solution works to make a difference in the community by repurposing, recycling or donating useful items destined for the landfill, such as clothing, furniture and household goods, to help individuals in need.
While his business has been succeeding, it wasn’t always smooth sailing for Griffith. He said he found it difficult to transition back into civilian life after his 10 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, which included two overseas tours of duty.
“The one thing that was the hardest and to work through, was that search of purpose and connecting to the community,” Griffith said.
Starting JAWS Junk & Waste Solutions has helped him find that purpose, and Griffith said he hopes to pass along some of the lessons he has learned to other veterans.
“We try to hire veterans as often as possible as well and it’s one of the things that has given us some purpose following our military service,” he said.
Veterans can find “an immense amount of opportunity” in Arlington, Griffith said.
“I’m very proud and excited to be a veteran in Arlington,” he said. “The American Dream to me is all about having the opportunity, not just in business, but to raise your family and build and grow community with one another.”
