Elda Olvera and Jose Abud, owners of Sky Event Center in Arlington, were constantly looking for good caterers for their clients – so they decided to open their own catering company and restaurant. Los Molcas Tacos Bar & Grill is situated in an ideal spot in on East Abram St. in downtown Arlington, between mainstays Shipley Donuts and Division Brewing Pizza Kitchen, and across the street from J. Gilligan’s Bar & Grill.
The couple noticed that their current location was for lease when driving around one day in 2020, and Olvera fell in love with it. Now, they’ve been open for two years and have between eight and 10 employees. It’s also a family affair – Elda and Jose have eight children ranging from 14 to 26 years old, and they all help out with the business in some capacity. They credit their chef, Moises Lopez, as being crucial to the restaurant’s success.
Standout menu items include their salsa – Olvera wanted to ensure they had spicy options, since she could never get the spice level she craved when dining out herself – and their machaca, a type of dried meat often served at breakfast or brunch.
“The machacado is specially made where we’re from in Monterrey. We’re originally from Nuevo León and that’s what we implement into everything we make here,” said Elda Olvera.
Everything at Los Tacos Molcas is homemade and from scratch, including their tortillas.
Another thing that makes Los Molcas stand out is their dedication to providing a great customer, according to Olvera.
“We want to make everyone feel comfortable, always be attentive and nice, and provide good service. There are lots of places I go where they don’t deliver that experience,” she said.
Olvera explained that she’s lived in the area for over 20 years and loves doing business in Arlington (Sky Events has been operating for 12 years).
“I was always looking for something in Arlington, it’s growing a lot here,” she said.
The family also enjoys being part of Arlington’s business community. Olvera explained the neighboring businesses all support each other, both on social media and visiting and purchasing food from one another.
“It’s been very welcoming, we’ve been blessed with them too,” she said.

The City of Arlington is highlighting small businesses throughout 2025.
