The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Board of Directors approved five grants totaling $487,187 at their May board meeting.
The Foundation's mission is to contribute to a thriving Arlington by supporting the causes which benefit Arlington's citizens and enhance the natural surroundings and lifestyle of the city. The Foundation most recently approved the following grants:
Arlington Charities, Inc. – Groceries with Dignity | $186,687
Arlington Charities, Inc. is the city's oldest and largest food pantry. They serve an average of 150 families daily with fresh, nutritious produce, lean proteins, dairy, bakery, and shelf-stable goods. Their Groceries with Dignity meets the demands of two demographics that are often overlooked and underserved.
Rising food costs force many to choose between essentials like rent, gas, and groceries, while working families struggle to access traditional food assistance programs due to rigid service hours. To combat these barriers, Arlington Charities, Inc is expanding their Home Delivery Program to reach an additional 100 homebound and transportation-limited clients. They also plan to launch an After-Hours Grocery Program utilizing smart refrigerated lockers, allowing working families to retrieve pre-selected groceries at their convenience, eliminating barriers posed by inflexible service hours.
Arlington ISD Education Foundation – 2025 AISD Back to School Kickoff | $25,000
The Arlington ISD Back to School Kickoff provides backpacks filled with supplies to 8,000 AISD students from low-income households each year, from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation's grant will support the 2025 AISD Back to School Kickoff, helping AISD deliver needed supplies and important health services.
City of Arlington Asset Management – Clean Corridor Program | $218,000
The Clean Corridor Program aims to enhance the cleanliness and beauty of the City of Arlington by identifying and addressing various issues such as litter, graffiti, and other environmental concerns. This grant would help with start-up expenses for the newly created Arlington Clean Corridor Program, including four work trucks, a dump trailer and a power wash trailer. The vehicles and trailers will provide transportation and load support for staff, supplies, and equipment in maintaining the City's aesthetic appeal and ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
Inspired to Live Ministries – ITL Summer Day Camp | $7,500
The Inspired to Live Summer Day Camp offers a four-week, no-cost enrichment
program that focuses on reading and math readiness, for elementary and middle school students in Arlington and the surrounding communities. The primary objective of the camp is to close the learning gap that disproportionately affects students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. A grant award of $7,500 will help provide at least 150 low-income Arlington students (grades 1-8) with a minimum of four hours per day of educational intervention, enrichment activities, and meals at no cost throughout the duration of the program.
Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County – Providing Nutrition and Essential Wrap Around Services in Arlington | $50,000
Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County aims to provide more than just a nutritious, the Nutrition program is also meant to address several community needs, including food insecurity, social isolation, and poor mental and physical health. Through the program, Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County offers home-delivered and congregate meals based on the client’s individual needs. This $50,000 grant will help provide 5,555 hot, nutritious noon-time meals to clients living in the City of Arlington who receive home-delivered meals and congregate meals.
