After a comprehensive review of fees, the Planning and Development Services department is proposing phase one of fee adjustments for various permits to take effect on July 15, 2025.

A large portion of permit fees have not been through a review since 2008. Over the years, the limited fee adjustments that have occurred were largely driven by state legislative changes, ordinance adoptions, or City reorganizations. Existing permitting fees have not kept pace with rising costs and do not adequately recover costs for related services. The City has opted for a phased implementation in fee adjustments with several starting in mid-July and the second phase starting Oct. 1, 2025.

The first phase, scheduled for City Council approval on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, includes new and revised adjustments to:

  • Platting
  • Zoning
  • Signs
  • Special Event Parking
  • Temporary Outdoor and Special Events
  • Trade permits, e.g. validations and various inspections for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Irrigation
  • Board and Commission and special staff meetings associated with permitting applications
  • Gas well drilling
  • Health
