With the summer season upon us, there's nothing quite like spending time in nature and enjoying the benefits of our award-winning parks system. Whether it's a relaxing stroll, a dip in the pool, or a family picnic at the pavilion, spending time outdoors is a great way to unwind and connect, but it's essential to do so responsibly and in compliance with park ordinances. Here are a few tips to help you enjoy your time in Arlington parks while respecting the rules in place. • Take some time to research the park you plan to visit and familiarize yourself with any specific ordinances or guidelines in place. This could include rules about off-leash pets, how to reserve a pavilion, which trails are open for use, or even the use of specific recreational equipment. • Tip: All Arlington park pavilions display signage with a QR code that can be scanned to check daily availability and view any scheduled pavilion reservations. • Ensure that any activities you plan to engage in are allowed and permitted at that specific location. For example, if you plan to set up a bounce house for a child's birthday party, securing the necessary permit in advance is required. Similarly, if you're planning to bring alcohol or use amplified sound equipment, you'll need to obtain any necessary permits or pavilion reservations in advance. Events with more than 200 guests are also required to secure police security for the duration of the event. • Keep in mind that motorized vehicles, including e-scooters and electric bikes, are not permitted on our hike and bike trails per City ordinance. Help keep our trails safe, peaceful, and people-powered! • Be considerate of other park visitors. This could mean keeping noise levels down, being courteous on shared trails or walkways, or simply being mindful of your impact on the environment. By treating others with respect and kindness, we can all enjoy our time in nature and help create a positive experience for everyone. With a little effort and consideration, we can all enjoy the beauty and wonder of nature while protecting it for generations to come. Whether you're looking for a solo adventure or a fun activity to do with friends and family, our 99 parks throughout Arlington are waiting for you this summer!
